Common wastewater treatment methods for white latex adhesive production.
White latex adhesive is a colloidal emulsion formed by dispersing polymer particles in water. It can be used to make latex products, such as common sponges, gloves, toys, hoses, etc. White latex adhesive production equipment consumes a large amount of water, and the wastewater generated also needs to be properly treated. Here are some treatment methods.
Sedimentation method:
Most treatment methods for white latex adhesive production wastewater use natural sedimentation and discharge. The natural sedimentation method has a long sedimentation time for treating latex wastewater, the sedimentation tanks occupy a large area, and the sedimentation effect is poor. It can only treat larger particle colloids. Fine particle colloids remain suspended in the water and do not settle. The natural sedimentation method simply cannot solve the problem of separating colloidal substances from the water in the wastewater.
Flocculation method:
Add an appropriate amount of flocculant to the white latex adhesive production wastewater (selected according to the actual water quality, the dosage is determined by sampling and testing). After adding the flocculant to the water, the interaction between suspended solids and dispersed particles produces flocs, which collide with each other during the sedimentation process to form larger flocs, which are then separated by sedimentation or air flotation. This is a common method in paint wastewater treatment.
Adsorption method:
A method of using porous solids (called adsorbents) to adsorb certain pollutants (called adsorbates) from wastewater for recovery or removal, thereby purifying the wastewater. The white latex adhesive production wastewater is brought into contact with the solid adsorbent. The pollutants in the white latex adhesive production wastewater are adsorbed by the adsorbent, and the adsorbent is separated from the wastewater, achieving the purpose of removing pollutants.
