The following points are very important in the application of manual wood veneer adhesive:
First is the thickness of the wood veneer you are applying. If the thickness is less than 30 (30/100mm), you can choose to use latex adhesive. If it exceeds 40, latex adhesive is not easy to apply, and should not fail.
1. Use a rubber roller to evenly roll and apply the latex adhesive.
2. Lay the wood veneer onto the glued surface.
3. Overlap the second piece on the first piece by about 3mm.
4. Use a ruler or wooden board to press down on the center of the overlapping area of the two veneer pieces.
5. Use a craft knife to cut the veneer (the purpose is to make the veneer jointless).
6. Remove the cut veneer pieces from the upper and lower layers, and arrange the first and second layers of veneer smoothly.
7. Use an electric iron to iron the veneer along the wood grain, using heat to accelerate drying and prevent the veneer from debonding.
If white glue is allowed to dry naturally without heating with an electric iron, the vast majority of veneers will fail because wood contracts when it dries.
Strong adhesive application:
1. First, use a straight ruler or wooden board to cut the bonding surface, because once strong adhesive sticks, it cannot be pulled apart, so it cannot be used like latex adhesive.
2. Scrape a layer of strong adhesive. The scraper can be made of melamine board, acrylic board, or wooden board.
3. Wait until both sides are completely dry – they must be completely dry. When touched by hand, they will not stick together; they should not stick.
4. After laying, scrape a wooden board along the wood grain to press the strong adhesive and increase the adhesion.
Regardless of whether using latex adhesive or strong adhesive, after applying the veneer, use a craft knife to remove excess veneer.
When using, apply evenly on both the MDF and the veneer until it feels slightly sticky to the touch. When applying, two people need to cooperate: one person holds the other end of the veneer, and the other person uses a glue scraper to smooth it along the line. After pasting, add newspaper and press down tightly with a soft for one day (I use a whole unopened bag of cement). Pay attention to environmental cleanliness during application to prevent sand particles, wood chips, and other impurities from sticking inside, which would affect the surface of the applied veneer.
Using for veneer application may work, but it will bubble. Currently, the Motian manual wood veneer adhesive available on the market is a good choice: Motian manual wood veneer adhesive is a high solid content, single-component, special water-based polyvinyl acetate adhesive. Compared with using for manual veneer application, it has excellent characteristics such as fast drying (heating with an electric iron for 3-10 seconds), good solvent resistance (no bubbling after painting), easy glue application on large-area laminating, less glue per unit area, good heat resistance, high final strength, and environmental friendliness.
It is mainly used for manual veneer application on convex curved surfaces, manual edge banding, veneer repair, and other products suitable for heating with an electric iron. It is particularly suitable for veneer application on curved furniture, solving the problem of paint blistering. It will greatly accelerate changes in furniture appearance design.
Help you solve veneer application problems.
1. Fast drying, heat with an electric iron for 3-10 minutes.
2. Better solvent resistance than, no blistering after painting.
3. Good heat resistance, adaptable to various climates.
4. Environmentally friendly.
5. High final strength, capable of manually applying 0.6mm thick hard wood veneer.
6. Less glue per unit area, overall cost lower than.
7. Has unique reversibility. Even after the glue dries, it can still be heated and ironed with an iron. Even if an inexperienced employee operates improperly and does not stick firmly, they can still.
Note: If the wood is sealed with paint, fully sand it before using this product.
A. Double-sided gluing:
1. Use a short-haired roller for double-sided gluing, ensuring even glue application. An application amount of 80-100 g/m² is ideal.
2. Apply glue first to the side that is not easy to absorb water (e.g., when applying veneer to MDF, apply glue to the veneer first; when applying veneer to solid wood, apply glue to the solid wood first). At 25°C, let it sit for 1-3 minutes (depending on the amount of glue applied). It is recommended to touch with your hand; it should feel slightly sticky, but the glue should not transfer to your hand.
3. Heat with an electric iron for 3-10 seconds (temperature about 150-170°C). The heating time for the edges of the panel needs to be slightly longer. After pasting, if bubbles or areas not firmly bonded are found, iron again with the electric iron. Apply paint after 24 hours.
4. When the workplace temperature is below 13°C, close the bond immediately after gluing.
B. Single-sided gluing:
1. Use a short-haired roller for single-sided gluing, applying glue evenly. The application amount is 150-180 g/m². At 25°C, cover with the veneer within 45 seconds. The time depends on the amount of glue applied, the panel, and the relative humidity of the air. The principle is to ensure that the glue is easily transferred to the other substrate that has not been glued.
2. Heat with an electric iron for 10-30 seconds (temperature about 150-170°C).
3. After pasting, if bubbles or areas not firmly bonded are found, iron again with the electric iron. Apply paint after 24 hours.
