Currently, temperatures across the country have begun to gradually drop, especially in some northern regions, where the lowest temperatures in the morning and evening have reached around 5 degrees Celsius. Since most of the company's products are woodworking adhesives, which are more sensitive to environmental temperature and humidity, in order to better demonstrate the performance of the adhesives, I will share with you some precautions for various woodworking adhesives in winter:
A. Splicing Adhesive
1. Increase the weight of the curing agent to 12%-15% (2% higher than in normal environments)
2. The workshop working environment, the adhesive itself, and the temperature of the required materials should not be lower than 10°C.
3. After splicing, please ensure a processing time of 24 hours.
B. Vacuum Forming Adhesive
1. When operating at low temperatures, appropriately extend the drying time to facilitate adhesive volatilization.
2. When operating equipment, the activation time and film pressing time can be appropriately extended, to 1.5 times or more than normal.
3. When performing vacuum forming operations at low temperatures, preheat the panel for 5-10 seconds to raise the panel temperature and facilitate adhesive film activation during later operations.
4. Under high humidity, the workshop working environment should try to raise the ambient temperature around the processed products and reduce environmental humidity.
C. Assembly Yellow Adhesive
1. Assembly adhesive thickens at low temperatures; ensure that the storage temperature in the warehouse reaches 15-20°C.
2. Pressing and conditioning time must be extended by 50% compared to the original; when using high frequency, extend the power-on time by 5-30 seconds.
3. Under high humidity, the workshop working environment should try to raise the ambient temperature around the processed products and reduce environmental humidity.
D. Veneer Adhesive
1. At low temperatures, veneer adhesive thickens / the adhesive film becomes brittle. The temperature in the warehouse and the gluing site must be above 15°C.
2. When bonding at low temperatures, the open time can be appropriately extended, or methods such as heating during bonding can be used.
3. For hot press veneering, the temperature can be appropriately increased by 5°C-15°C, and the hot press time extended by 15-30 seconds.
E. Speaker Veneer Adhesive
1. Before applying veneer, first use a Dyne pen to confirm that the Dyne value of the PVC skin reaches the specified value of 34.
2. When bonding at low temperatures, use a hair dryer or infrared heating lamp to preheat the PVC skin.
3. The working environment and the temperature of the required materials (such as panels) should not be lower than 10°C.
F. Edge Banding Hot Melt Adhesive
1. The machine operating temperature should be appropriately increased by 10°C-20°C compared to the same conditions in summer and autumn.
2. The speed of the conveyor belt should be increased, and the increased speed should be about 10%-30% faster.
3. Install a hair dryer on the machine's feeding table to raise the temperature of the substrate being edge banded.
4. Install infrared heating lamps on the edge banding reel to raise the temperature of the edge banding tape.
Other Precautions
1. When the temperature is below 5°C, use quilts or insulation cotton to insulate the adhesive before transportation.
2. After the adhesive arrives at the warehouse, ensure the temperature is above 8°C. Air conditioning heating can be used.
3. During construction, workers should try to ensure the on-site construction temperature is above 10°C. If it is too low, it is not recommended to continue applying adhesive.
