Is Lichao white latex adhesive waterproof? How is the water resistance of your white latex adhesive? Can your white latex adhesive pass a boiling water test? Customers often ask us these questions, because the process requirements of some factories do demand certain water resistance from white latex adhesive.
The common English abbreviation for conventional water-based white latex adhesive is PVAc, which stands for polyvinyl acetate emulsion adhesive. Conventional white latex adhesive is formed through the polymerization reaction of an emulsion. After drying, it forms a film that still contains PVA components. Because PVA is soluble in water, the water resistance of white latex adhesive is actually only moderate. However, its water resistance can be improved through other methods.
The water resistance of conventional white latex adhesive is moderate. However, white latex adhesive with D3 level performance has waterproof components added to the raw material formulation, which can适当 improve its water resistance. Normally, it can be placed in water for 1-2 hours without problems. However, achieving complete waterproofing is actually very difficult. Similarly, for some splicing applications using white latex adhesive, customers can mix the splicing white latex adhesive with a curing agent (chemical name: isocyanate) in a 100:15 ratio before splicing. Through the reaction between the adhesive and the curing agent, its water resistance can be further improved. Normally, the finished product can withstand boiling in water for 8 hours without the glue line opening. However, if soaked further, the panel itself may not be able to withstand it. This situation can only improve water resistance, but there is still a gap to achieve完全 waterproof performance.
