White latex adhesive, as a water-based adhesive, is mainly used in wood processing plants and packaging printing. The drying speed of white latex adhesive affects the process and is therefore a concern for most people. The main causes of slow drying speed are as follows:
Cause 1: Low solid content of white latex adhesive
If the adhesive has low solid content, its water content will inevitably increase, resulting in longer water evaporation time and slower drying speed. To solve this problem, we can switch to an adhesive with lower water content from the manufacturer.
Cause 2: High air humidity in the environment
Similarly, high air humidity in the environment, with high water content, will also lead to longer adhesive evaporation time and slower drying speed. Manufacturers can use dehumidifiers or perform bonding in relatively dry places.
Cause 3: Temperature is too low
Low temperatures in winter can also affect the water evaporation of white latex adhesive. Therefore, heating lamps or fans must be used at the gluing location to raise the ambient temperature.
Cause 4: Excessive moisture content of the substrate
If the substrate itself has excessively high moisture content, it will also prevent the white latex adhesive from penetrating into the substrate, affecting the drying rate of the adhesive. Therefore, the moisture content of the wood must be checked before bonding.
