How to avoid bubbling and cracking when applying veneer with Anhui veneer adhesive?
Release Date:2026-04-21 Views:0

Veneer adhesive is generally used for applying veneer to solid wood composite furniture. Currently, most solid wood composite furniture on the market uses MDF with solid wood veneer applied. Because furniture surfaces are generally uneven and varied in shape, it is difficult to complete the veneering work using machines, so it is generally done by manual veneer application.

Some customers are prone to bubbling when using veneer adhesive to apply veneer by hand. If they then iron the surface of the veneer with an iron after bubbling, it is easy to cause cracking, ranging from affecting rework by workers to seriously damaging the furniture. This problem troubles many customers. Based on our many years of experience in adhesive R&D and manufacturing, when bubbling occurs with veneer adhesive, cracking is likely to happen. Generally speaking, these situations are as follows:
1. The surface of the substrate is not smooth before applying the veneer.
2. The veneer being applied is too thick and was not moistened before use.
3. When using an iron on the veneer, if the temperature is too low, it is easy to cause bubbles; if the temperature is too high, it will cause cracking. The overall ironing frequency being too frequent and the time intervals being short can also easily cause cracking.
4. Using veneer adhesive from non-reputable manufacturers, resulting in insufficient bonding strength.

To prevent the above situations from occurring, customers should pay attention to the following when bonding:
1. The substrate should be pretreated before application to ensure the surface is smooth and free of irregularities.
2. The thickness of the veneer should not exceed 2.5mm, with 2.0mm being better.
3. The veneer should be thoroughly moistened first, then dried to a suitable humidity before use.
4. The ironing temperature should be appropriate. End surfaces or curved surfaces should be ironed in several separate applications, with relatively longer intervals between them.
5. Of course, the key is to choose veneer adhesive produced by a regular manufacturer, with a solid content not too low, and good after-sales service.
