Based on past years' conditions, the period from May to July is a rainy season. During such a rainy season in summer, the humidity in the air is higher than in other seasons. Therefore, when furniture manufacturers use splicing adhesive for glue mixing, if they make operational errors and workers still use the splicing adhesive in the same way as before, issues such as glue line opening and insufficient strength are likely to occur later. Consequently, based on our past 16 years of experience in R&D and sales of splicing adhesive, Anhui Lichao New Material Company will briefly explain how to prevent such situations on rainy days.

First, to simplify operations, some may work outdoors or in areas with poor rain protection. Currently, panel adhesive is basically two-component, requiring pre-mixing with a corresponding proportion of hardener. Therefore, if the air humidity in the glue mixing environment is very high, it will also affect the bonding reaction. Thus, the priority is to mix glue in a dry, well-ventilated area.

Due to the high humidity in the air, the addition ratio of the hardener during glue mixing should be adjusted accordingly. Too little hardener results in insufficient strength; too much makes the adhesive film too brittle. In such rainy weather, the addition ratio of the hardener should be consulted in advance. Secondly, after many workers use splicing adhesive to bond panels, they carelessly leave the adhesive naturally exposed to the air. At this time, the adhesive will naturally evaporate, lightly affecting the performance, or in severe cases, making it unusable. Therefore, after using the adhesive, it must be sealed and kept properly.

The above relates to issues with the splicing adhesive itself. However, occasionally there is also the problem of the wood to be bonded being damp. Thus, before splicing panels, the moisture content of the wood must be tested. If the wood's moisture content is above 12% or the surface is damp, it needs to be dried before use.
